Grove Vision AI V2 + WiFi + ROS Node

I recently got my hands on the Grove Vision AI V2 module, and I’d like to share some ideas with the community to get your feedback:

While the native OpenCat control via the camera module seems straightforward, I’m exploring ways to integrate this module into a larger framework. Specifically, I’d like to create a ROS node for the video stream from the sensor, enabling real-time observation on a local PC.

From what I’ve seen online, tutorials for streaming video over Wi-Fi with the module typically use an additional ESP32S3 alongside the Grove Vision AI V2 to enable Wi-Fi capabilities. However, I believe this extra module might be unnecessary since the BiBoard already has built-in Wi-Fi. It seems feasible to connect to Wi-Fi directly through the BiBoard, eliminating the need for the ESP32S3.

Furthermore, if the BiBoard is connected to Wi-Fi, it should be possible to run a ROS node directly…

I don't remember if I sent you guys the newest BiBoard V1: https://docs.petoi.com/biboard/biboard-v1-guide

It has a dedicated Pi socket as featured on the original NyBoard. It uses UART2 and can be opened by OpenCatEsp32's firmware via serial command "XS", which means eXtension Serial.

Unresponsive board, bootloader flashing fails

Somehow, the board bricked itself when booting. I had been following the instructions at https://docs.petoi.com/arduino-ide/upload-sketch-for-nyboard, and had returned to the completely plain vanilla OpenCat.ino sketch.

During the boot beeps, I opened the serial port (the hardware serial<--> USB dongle was already installed on the Nyboard). Surprisingly, the board immediately stopped beeping, and has since been completely unresponsive. I cannot communicate with it via Arduino programmer, I don't see any output on the serial port, nor can I upload the bootloader by following instructions at https://docs.petoi.com/technical-support/burn-bootloader-for-nyboard.

Here is the output I get when trying to upload the bootloader:

I use macOS. I can try again with a Windows computer and report back.

3D print: Cat head for Bittle

I've been designing an alternative head for Bittle since April. It can be mounted on the existing head servo and equipped with an ultrasonic distance sensor.

@Rongzhong Li I just found out through another thread that there is a custom Petoi RGB distance sensor for the NyBoard. Don't you sell these anywhere? https://docs.petoi.com/extensible-modules/ultrasonic-sensor

Biboard v0_1 voice module

Hi, is there a module I can buy to give my early biboard v0_1 get voice module ?

Is The extension hat the only option?

Thank you
