Bittle is 4 paws up

Hi everyone I'm new to the community and here's my problem, a year ago I purchased a bittle for my grandson (he's 10) thinking his dad would help him build and set it up (he has a robotic background from school and me also teaching him) but it sat for 10 months as the couldn't figure out the software installation.

I took it over and I keep on getting error messages from no com port detected but its there in the arduino app (running 1.8.19), to can't update firmware (another error message). You name it it's happening or better yet nothing is happening.

Any help please I'm at my watts end.
