I'm trying to write new skills for my Bittle but apparently joint indexes from 1 to 7 are doing nothing. It is explained for gaits and behaviours but according to the example they should do something for static posture like rest. Thus my question is: what these indexes are for in static postures for Bittle?
I was wondering this same thing, as there are 8 motors (sans head motor), so I was scratching my own head. And if the above is true (they are reserved), why do many of the skills in InstinctBittle.h have values for the first 8 indexes? Or are they not reserved, but used in postures where each motor has 2 indexes, a start and end?

They are unused joints reserved for the full version of OpenCat.
