Stuck trying to set up ESP8266 WiFi Module

Hello,

I am stuck when trying to follow this guide: https://docs.petoi.com/communication-modules/wifi-esp8266 to configure wifi with the included ESP8266 module. Specifically, I am getting the error "A fatal esptool.py error occurred: Failed to connect to ESP8266: Timed out waiting for packet header" when trying to upload the code. It keeps getting stuck during the "connecting..." step. For context, I am using MacOS v12.6.2 (Monterey). I see the serial port connected, and bittle is periodically making a series of chimes via the buzzer which it normally does when connected with the usb module. I've tried with v2.7.4 as listed in the documentation as well as the latest version of 3.1.1 to no avail. I've tried to upload the basic blink sketch as well as the WiFi firmware listed below the test in the documentation. Any idea what could be blocking me here? I've been trying to troubleshoot for about half a day and haven't gotten anywhere. Below is a photo of how things are connected as well as some screenshots from my Arduino IDE. I'd greatly appreciate any help!

Thanks for the prompt response! I had the WiFi adapter connected to the USB Adapter, and thought I had to connect the USB Adapter + the WiFi Dongle to the NyBoard to make changes. The first step mentioned in the doc is to connect to the NyBoard, and the next step mentions to connect the USB Adapter. I thought the photo just didn't show the NyBoard to get a closer view of how the USB+WiFi dongle should be connected to each other. I think it could be helpful to others to also add that disclaimer and potentially a photo with an x for extra clarity to the doc. Perhaps, "Ensure you ONLY connect the USB Adapter to the WiFi Dongle and directly to your machine's USB port, the NyBoard should not be connected at all during this process." A video on this could also be helpful to newcomers, but I understand there is likely many other tasks on your plate. Last quick question - after successfully uploading the sketch, the output in Arduino IDE says "Hard resetting via RTS pin" and has been there for some time. Is there anything else I need to do here? Apologies for the novice questions, I'm relatively new to working with Arduino :)
